Joanne Gormley, DPM, believes in service to her profession and her community. She helped establish the free podiatry service at Mary's Place day shelter for homeless women and children in Seattle. She also served on the board of the Washington State Podiatric Medical Association (WSPMA) for 12 years, including 2 years as President. She was named Podiatrist of the Year by the WSPMA for her service to her profession.

Dr. Gormley believes that patient education is essential to the patient's understanding and involvement in the healthcare decision-making process so the best plan of care can be determined for each individual. She has a special interest in addressing biomechanical problems and keeping patients active throughout their lives to promote overall health. She believes that the basis of good medical care is to understand each patient's goals for treatment and to provide the information needed to choose the best option, whether it is preventative care, comfort care or surgical correction.

Dr. Gormley is a former college lightweight rower and still enjoys rowing in addition to gardening, cheering for UW women's basketball and spending time with her grandchildren. She and her spouse Mary Pat live in Seattle.
