Erica Wikan, CNM, is a board-certified nurse midwife. She obtained her baccalaureate degree in nursing from Johns Hopkins University and worked for seven years as a pediatric intensive care unit nurse prior to earning her graduate degrees as both a Nurse Midwife and a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at the University of Michigan.
Erica has a special interest in adolescent health, contraception, preventative care, pregnancy and childbirth. Her pediatric nurse practitioner education is an advantage for providing developmentally appropriate care to adolescents in way that they can understand, empowering them to be an active participant in their care. Erica has also found this portion of her education helpful in assisting families transitioning into parenthood and in preparing siblings for a baby. Erica enjoys providing education to her patients to encourage informed decisions and her care is guided by the goals that women set forth. She encourages a team approach that focuses on the woman as well as her family during pregnancy and childbirth.
Erica was born in Kirkland and relocated to a small island in Alaska when she was seven. She is excited to finally be home in Western Washington after years of education and various adventures. Erica loves the culture that larger cities have to offer and she enjoys repeated attempts at gardening, cooking, and any outdoor activity.
