Richard Angelo, MD

Dr. Richard Angelo is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and holds a Sports Medicine Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ). He is specialty fellowship trained with over 25 years of experience in helping patients return to a healthy, active lifestyle by providing them with unsurpassed Orthopedic and Musculoskeletal care.  The latest advances in operative methods, tools and implants are employed. State-of-the-art minimally invasive surgical techniques allow our patients to experience less post-operative pain, recover more quickly, and realize the greatest possible return of function.  Despite the complexity of many procedures, they are performed on an outpatient basis.

Dr Angelo has dedicated his academic and practice career to the study and development of minimally-invasive arthroscopic techniques to successfully treat injuries and diseases of the knee, shoulder, hip, and elbow.  Following completion of his orthopedic residency, he undertook a year of specialized fellowship study and research in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy with Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Richard Hawkins.  He has served as one of the University of Washington Husky athletic team physicians, Evergreen Hospital Chief of Surgery, and as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Washington Medical School.

Academic Contributions
He has participated on the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Sports Medicine Examination Subcommittee and as a representative on the Board of Specialties Education Subcommittee.  After completing terms on the Education Overview and Education Committees as chairman for the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), he was elected to the Board of Directors.  As a Master Instructor, he volunteers to teach arthroscopic skills at the Orthopedic Learning Center in Chicago.  Most recently, he was elected to the presidential line for AANA and serves as their 1st VP.  The Series of AANA Advanced Arthroscopy textbooks was just released for which he participated both as an author and Co-Editor for the Shoulder Volume.  In addition to authoring scientific articles for peer-review journals, he lectures nationally and internationally.
